Women's Volleyball's Season Ends at Top-Seeded Gallaudet

Box Score

WASHINGTON, D.C. - One of the most successful seasons in program history came to an end for Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team with a 3-0 loss to top-seeded Gallaudet in the semifinal round of the United East Championship Tournament on Tuesday night, Nov. 12.

Brianna Ondishin Ribon and Camryn Wettstone each finished with five kills, while Julia Choe racked up a team-high 14 digs. Mackenzy Miller had eight assists, while Emily Miller and Ellie Brown added two blocks apiece.

The Lions (18-8) got off to a strong start in the opening set and took a 7-4 lead following an Emily Miller kill off a Hannah DeGregory feed but the Bison (29-4) used a small run midway through the game to pull ahead 17-12. The visitors answered back with a pair of 3-0 runs capped by another Emily Miller kill that cut the deficit to 21-20 but Gallaudet closed out the set with four straight points to clinch a 1-0 overall lead.

The second set was close for the first few points but the Bison again used a momentum-shifting run to pull away during the middle portion of the game. This time it was a 10-1 spurt that set the tone and despite Penn State Harrisburg pulling to within five at 14-9, the visitors were unable to fight all the way back.

The final set saw the home team jump out to a 7-0 advantage that the Lions were unable to overcome. Trailing by as many as nine points, Penn State Harrisburg cut the deficit to six thanks to a kill from Tesla Oliva but Gallaudet's cushion was too much to come back from in the end.
