Box Score 2 TOWSON, Md. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team topped both non-conference opponents Goucher and Canton in a tri-match on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 7.
The Lions handled Goucher in the first match of the day at 25-11, 25-18, 25-13 before battling to a four-set win over Canton with a final score of 25-19, 25-11, 20-25, 25-20 in the last game of the day for the Blue & White.
In the opener, Hannah DeGregory and Brianna Ondishin Ribon led Penn State Harrisburg on offense with 19 combined kills against the Gophers. The pair also topped two other major statistical categories, as DeGregory had 12 assists from her setter position and Ondishin Ribon earned 16 digs on defense. In all three sets, the Blue & White held on to well-established leads and capitalized on errors made by the home team to secure the game one victory.
Penn State Harrisburg's second match of the day against the Roos proved to be a competitive one, starting with a 25-19 win in the beginning set. In set number two, the Blue & White got out to a nine-point lead midway through and never looked back. The squad continued the momentum early in the third frame, as the Lions went up 4-0 thanks to an ace by Mackenzy Miller and kills by Tesia Olivia and DeGregory. Canton went on a five-point run late which extended the match into the fourth and final set. The concluding set of the day for the Lions was all Ondishin Ribon, as she had eight of her 17 total kills in the fourth.
NOTABLES
- Ondishin Ribon had an impressive day for the Lions, as she tallied 26 kills, 24 digs, and a pair of aces. The Basking Ridge, N.J., native went 17-for-29 against Canton which was good enough for .552 kill percentage.
- M. Miller had 32 total assists from her setter position over both games.
- DeGregory was all over the court for Penn State Harrisburg, recording 29 assists, 14 kills, nine digs, and four aces on the day.
- Over both matches, Emmaline Stevens had 20 digs and five service aces.
- Julia Choe earned 17 digs on Saturday, while Kate Bukowski added 13 of her own.
- Alex Jurney had 10 kills during the second match against the Roos.

The Lions are hosting their home opener on Wednesday, Sept. 11 versus Gettysburg at the Capital Union Building. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
