LANCASTER, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team split a pair of contests in tri-match action at Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, Sept. 12. The Lions dropped a 3-1 decision to the hosts before battling to a 3-2 victory over Mary Washington when
Mackenzy Miller reached 1,000 assists for her career.
GAME 1
In the opener against (RV) Franklin & Marshall (3-3),
Camryn Wettstone and
Brianna Ondishin Ribon both recorded double-digit kills, while
Tobi West and M. Miller combined for 29 total assists from the setter position. On the defensive side, Ondishin Ribon, Wettstone,
Kate Bukowski, and West all surpassed double-digit digs.
The Diplomats took the first two sets 25-23, 25-18, before Penn State Harrisburg (2-3) stole the third 25-20. The visitors overcame a 16-11 deficit in the third set and won seven of the final eight rallies to earn the victory. Earlier, Wettstone,
Emily Miller, and M. Miller helped the Lions answer an early push by F&M, with M. Miller's kill tying the score up 9-9. After the home team moved in front by 5, Penn State Harrisburg worked back behind a
Chasya Deliazard-Wettstone block, an
Ariana Pecunes kill, a Wettstone solo block, and a Wettstone service ace before Ondishin Ribon tied it back up at 18. West's kill put the Lions ahead 21-20 before M. Miller served through the final four points of the frame. The hosts found their footing in the fourth and final set, rolling to a 25-11 win to secure the overall victory.
GAME 2
The Lions' fought to a 3-2 win over Mary Washington (2-3) by set scores of 26-28, 25-11, 25-11, 20-25, 15-13 in their final contest of the day. M. Miller marked the highlight of the day for Penn State Harrisburg, as she surpassed 1000 assists for her career behind a 22-assist outing against the Eagles. Wettstone and Ondishin Ribon recorded 14 and 12 kills, respectively. Elsewhere, Ondishin Ribon, Bukowski, and
Nicole Dos Santos all chipped in double-digit digs.
After dropping the beginning frame, Penn State Harrisburg left no doubt in the second and third sets, besting Mary Washington 25-11 in both frames. Midway through the fourth set, the Eagles went on an 8-0 run that could have easily put the contest out of reach for the Lions. Penn State Harrisburg fought back within two points, but the deficit was too much to overcome and the match was forced into an extra set.
The Lions faced a 7-2 hole before Wettstone stopped the run with a kill and later she added another kill as the squad began working back into the fifth set. Dos Santos served through four straight points, with kills by Ondishin Ribon and Wettstone preceding a Dos Santos ace that tied the set 9-9. After Mary Washington moved back ahead 12-10, Penn State Harrisburg answered with back-to-back kills from Ondishin Ribon in addition to an Eagles error. Up 13-12, the Lions closed out the match with another Ondishin Ribon kill and a block by Wettstone and
Tesia Oliva that sealed the 3-2 victory.

- M. Miller shined in the second contest, recording her 1000th-career assist. Over both matches, she had a total of 36 assists to go along with 10 digs.
- Wettstone tallied 12 kills and 10 digs against F&M before adding 14 kills and six block assists in the second contest.
- Ondishin Ribon impressed on both offensive and defense for the Lions, totaling 22 kills, 36 digs, and six service aces on the day.
- Bukowski dominated defensively against the Eagles, chipping in 20 digs.
- In the second match, Dos Santos added 11 digs, while
Abigail Frownfelter had seven of her own.
