Volleyball Opens 2024 Campaign With Sweep of McDaniel

Box Score

WESTMINSTER, Md. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team opened up the 2024 season with a 3-0 sweep over non-conference opponent McDaniel on Friday night, August 30.

Hannah DeGregory was all over the floor for the Lions (1-0) as she led the team with nine kills and 10 digs and added seven assists. Brooklyn Sheridan had a solid collegiate debut at her setter position with nine assists, while rookie Alex Jurney had four kills and finished with an impressive .800 hitting percentage.

In the opening set, Penn State Harrisburg got out to a eight point lead midway through at 19-11 before McDaniel (0-1) clawed back to tie the game at 24. The Lions took advantage of a Green Terror attack error before Camryn Wettstone sealed the set-one victory with a kill thanks to Mackenzy Miller. The away team was able to create a comfortable cushion throughout most of the second set, largely due to 12 total errors by McDaniel. The Lions were able to pull away with a 25-17 decision and they continued their momentum into the final frame, as they started off with a 5-0 lead in which Brianna Ondishin Ribon had two service aces. Once again the Green Terror were plagued by errors on both offense and defense, which was to the benefit of Penn State Harrisburg who sealed the sweep with a 25-12 third set win.
