Box Score MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team finished out regular season play on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 2 with another United East Conference victory over Cedar Crest 3-0. The Lions (17-7, 8-2 UEC) earned the sweep thanks to set scores of 25-13, 25-19, and 25-20.
Hannah DeGregory was unbelievable on offense for Penn State Harrisburg, as she went 14-for-18 in attacks to go along with 11 assists, seven digs, and a pair of aces. Mackenzie Miller tallied a team-high 17 assists from the setter position, while Julia Choe led the squad with 12 digs and five service aces.
In the opening set, the Lions relied on a six-point run midway through to bring the score to 12-5 and rolled to a 25-13 set one victory. Cedar Crest (9-16, 4-6 United East) capitalized off of several early errors by Penn State Harrisburg in the second frame, but the home team was able to quickly turn the tides in their favor thanks to nine kills from DeGregory that fueled their momentum.
Although the Lions maintained 10-5 advantage in the final set, the Falcons didn't make it easy and tied the game up 11-11. Penn State Harrisburg answered with a much-needed five point run that was started with a kill from Emmaline Stevens, followed by a Briana Ondishin Ribon spike, and capped off with a hard hit from Anna Stanoyevitch. Cedar Crest attempted to claw back late, but the Lions ended the third set on top 25-20.
SENIOR DAY
Before Saturday's contest, Penn State Harrisburg recognized the team's lone senior, Emmaline Stevens, for her commitment to the women's volleyball program over the past four seasons.
NOTABLES
- DeGregory was dominate on offense for the Lions, going 14-for-18 attacks which was good enough for a .722 hitting percentage. She also added 11 assists, seven digs, and a pair of aces.
- M. Miller led the team with 17 assists to go along with nine digs.
- Choe recorded a team-high 12 digs and five service aces, while also adding six assists.
- Stevens tallied eight kills and six digs on the afternoon.
- Ondishin Ribon had six kills, four digs, and four aces.
