HUGHESVILLE, Md. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2024 United East Championships hosted by St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday, Nov. 2. The men earned a fifth-place finish out of 11 teams, while the women secured a seventh-place finish out of 13 programs.
In addition to each team's success, four runners captured United East All-Conference honors. Angel Patino and Zack Gibson earned all-conference accolades on the men's side, while Destiny Samuels and Melina Dhital nabbed all-conference recognition for the women.
Patino ran a 30:05.40 to capture an 18th-place finish out of 99 total runners, while Gibson finished 30th behind an effort of 31:10.08. Elsewhere, Jon Carnesi and Ben Seiler came in 37th and 38th. Kyle Davis, Tyler Price, and Ian Fong rounded out the squad and helped Penn State Harrisburg earn a fifth-place team finish.
On the women's side, Samuels crossed the finish line at 29:15.83 to earn 25th place and Dhital was just three spots behind her with a time of 29:53.36 in 28th. Layna Horner and Daphnny were in stride together, as they earned 53rd and 54th respectively. Kaylee Brown, Katrin Cavanaugh, and Taylor Nicholas also ran for the Lions and aided in the team's seventh-place medal.
