MEDIA, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country teams competed at the 2025 United East Championships hosted by Penn State Brandywine on Saturday, Nov. 1.
MaKayla Reichel earned Rookie of the Year honors on the women's side as the squad earned a third-place finish out of 12 teams, while the men secured a seventh-place finish out of 11 programs. Reichel's recognition marks the first award of it's kind in program history for Penn State Harrisburg's women's cross country.
Reichel ran a 25:11.2 to capture a sixth-place finish out of 68 total runners, while
Margaret Cuthie finished 11th behind an effort of 26:58.8. Elsewhere,
Callie Shover,
Stephanie Carreon, and
Melina Dhital came in 21st, 23rd, 25th respectively.
Marissa Becker and
Layna Horner rounded out the squad and helped Penn State Harrisburg earn a third-place team finish.
On the men's side,
Dominic Basselgia crossed the finish line at 31:36.35 to earn 21st place and Zach Gibson was just a few spots behind him with a time of 31:58.1 in 26th.
Brandon Everett,
Kyle Davis, and Benett Seiler were close together, as they earned 37th, 41
st, and 43rd respectively.
Muhamad Meklachi and
Will Wang also ran for the Lions and aided in the team's seventh-place medal.
