NEWVILLE, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country teams took part in the annual Dickinson Long-Short Invitational at Big Spring High School on Saturday morning, Sept. 27.
The women's team earned a 13th-place finish out of 20 competing programs in the 6K event, while the men were 18th of 21 competing squads in the 8K race.
MaKayla Reichel's effort was good enough to put her in the women's record book, while
Dominic Basselgia led the way for the men.
Reichel ran a time of 24:58.4 to secure a 30th-place finish out of 138 total runners in the women's race. Her effort was good enough to rank third all-time in program history.
Margaret Cuthie and
Stephanie Carreon also earned top-100 finishes, with the former's time of 28:06.3 good enough for 85th overall, while the latter's effort of 28:55.3 strong enough for a 98th-place finish.
Marissa Becker,
Melina Dhital and
Callie Shover rounded out the Penn State Harrisburg contingency.
Basselgia was the top finisher on the men's side, with his jaunt of 31:14.7 good enough to secure a 95th-place finish out of 161 total competitors, while
Zack Gibson just missed out on a top-100 finish thanks to his time of 32:08.3.
Ben Seiler came home 134th, while
Brandon Everett and
Muhamad Meklachi crossed the line back-to-back in 138th and 139th, respectively.
Kyle Davis and
Will Wang completed the Penn State Harrisburg group of runners.
The Lions get a weekend off before returning to action at the DeSales Invitational in Center Valley, Pa. on Saturday morning, Oct. 11.
