CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country teams got one last tune up in before the United East Championships when they competed at the 42nd annual DeSales Invitational on Saturday morning, Oct. 11.

MaKayla Reichel turned in one of the best performances in program history to lead the way for the women. The freshman's outstanding rookie campaign continued with a sixth-place finish out of 82 total runners in the 6K event. Her time of 24:25.2 stands as the third-fastest effort in program history – less than one second off the quickest time ever run.

Margaret Cuthie secured a top-30 finish thanks to a jaunt of 26:44.5; a performance good enough for 29th place. Stephanie Carreon finished 45th overall with an effort of 28:16.1, while Melina Dhital's time of 28:32.7 proved good enough for 49th place. Marissa Becker and Layna Horner rounded out the Penn State Harrisburg contingency.

On the men's side, Dominic Basselgia led the way, coming home 65th out of 114 total competitors in the 8K race thanks to his time of 6:01.9. Zack Gibson crossed the finish line in 78th position, while Brandon Everett and Kyle Davis came home back-to-back in 90th and 91st place, respectively. Will Wang completed the Penn State Harrisburg group of runners.

With the regular season now behind them, the Lions will turn their attention to the United East Championship event in three weeks. The races will be contested at Penn State Brandywine on Saturday morning, Nov. 1.
