Miscues Cost Baseball Against No. 3 Shenandoah

Box Score

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - A number of defensive miscues and a rare lack of offense proved the difference in Penn State Harrisburg's 10-0 non-conference loss to No. 3 Shenandoah on Monday afternoon, April 17.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Lions (24-7) committed six errors on the day, including three in the first two innings, leading to three unearned runs for the Hornets (29-4). The miscues allowed the visitors to gain the early advantage and set the tone for the rest of the contest.

SU struck first with a double that drove in a pair of runs in the top of the first and Penn State Harrisburg went hitless through the first three frames. After starter Danny Eden stranded runners in scoring position in the second, third, and fourth, respectively, the Lions threatened in the bottom of the fourth when Matt Parks and Kevin Lehner advanced to second and third with two outs. Unfortunately, the home team came away with nothing and the Hornets took advantage of two more errors in the fifth to plate three more.

From there, the offense went silent for Penn State Harrisburg, with Shenandoah using double plays to end both the fifth and sixth innings, respectively. The Hornets tacked on two more in the sixth and added three in the seventh to put things out reach.

NOTABLES

- Monday's game was Penn State Harrisburg's ninth against a nationally-ranked opponent this season.
