How It Happened

Bret Williams became Penn State Harrisburg's all-time hits leader in a 12-3 non-conference victory over Elizabethtown on Tuesday afternoon, April 2.

Williams racked up four total hits to bring his career total to 156 and move him into sole possession of the school's all-time mark, while Travis Van Houten and Casey Winters blasted home runs in the win. Reliever Tyler Jackson came away with his first victory of the spring on the mound.

The Blue Jays (6-15) led on two occasions in the early going, scoring the game's first run in the top of the first before taking a 2-1 advantage into the bottom of the second but a big bottom half of the second frame turned the tide in favor of the Blue & White (15-7-1).

A Williams RBI single drove in Ethan Kell and tied the game at 2-2 moments before Van Houten's team-leading seventh home run of the season also pushed Ryan McSorley and Williams across and gave the Lions their first lead of the afternoon.

Penn State Harrisburg took complete control when Winters launched a three-run shot over the fence in left center field in the bottom of the fourth stanza and the home team added tallies in fifth, sixth and eighth innings to put things out of reach.
