Lions Fall To Seagulls; Clinch #3 Seed In CAC Tournament

Salisbury, Md. – Penn State Harrisburg Baseball got swept by Salisbury in the Lions final CAC regular season games of the season. The Lions fell behind early in both games and despite late rallies could not overcome those deficits. The Lions will enter the CAC Baseball Championship as the three seed, traveling to Christopher Newport for the first round of competition.

Records:

Penn State Harrisburg: 28-10 Overall, 12-6 CAC

Salisbury: 28-10 Overall, 15-3 CAC

 

How it Happened:

The Lions fell behind early by seven runs, but began to chip away at the deficit in the fourth inning. Miguel Torres started the inning with a single to right field. Chase Smith would then draw a walk, moving Torres into scoring position. Zachary Koroneos would then single to center field driving in the Lions first run of the game. The Lions would later load the bases, but could not convert.

 

The Lions would strike again in the seventh inning. Bret Williams would lead off the inning with a single to right field. Chris Iocca would then crush a double into the left center gap, scoring Williams. The Seagulls would get out of the inning without any more damage and then would add four more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning. Ryan McSorley would draw a walk in the ninth to bring in a run for the Lions, but they would get no closer.

 

In game two, the Lions would once again struggle, falling behind early. The Lions offense would be scoreless until the ninth inning when an Austin Baker double to center field would drive in three runs. After the results of today's games the Lions learned they will travel to Christopher Newport for the CAC tournament, as the Lions finished third in the regular season.
