Grantham, PA. – Penn State Harrisburg Baseball picked up a win over Messiah College, scoring two runs in the tenth inning. In the tenth, the Lions got a pinch hit single from Jackson Struve to take the lead. Miguel Torres would then reach on a field error scoring Struve, giving the Lions an insurance run that would be key as the Falcons did score one run in the bottom half of the inning.

How it Happened:

The Lions fell in an early 2-0 hole, and struggle to find a rhythm in the first couple of inning. The Lions would finally strike in the sixth inning when after an Alex Cline walk, Zachary Koroneos blasted a two-run home run over the right field fence tying the game at two.

After the Eagles retook the lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, The Lions would answer in the seventh. Tyler Aug was hit by a pitch and Bret Williams drew a walk to put runners on base. Both would advance on a wild pitch and Alex Cline walked to load the bases. After a Messiah pitching change, Chris Iocca would deliver a sacrifice fly to right field scoring Aug.

The game would remain deadlocked at three through the rest of the nine scheduled innings, forcing an extra inning. Starting the tenth inning, Alex Cline got hit by a pitch. Cline would advance to second on a balk and move over to third via an Iocca sacrifice bunt. Jackson Struve would then pinch hit for the Lions, and he would take advantage of the opportunity blasting a single into left field allowing Cline to score. After a Chase Smith single, Miguel Torres would reach on a throwing error by the short stop allowing Struve to score. The Falcons would manage one run in the bottom of the inning, but Brad Richards managed to pitch the Lions out of a jam, clinching the victory.
