Harrisburg Completes Season Sweep Of Marymount

Arlington, Va. – Penn State Harrisburg Baseball continued its winning ways picking up its seventh CAC win and 21st win overall. The Lions got a strong offense effort from Alex Cline who went 2-5 with 2 RBI's and a double. Tyler Jackson pitched six innings holding the Saints to one run on four hits while striking out six.

Penn State Harrisburg: 21-6 Overall, 7-2 Conference

Marymount: 12-14 Overall, 4-6 Conference

 

How it Happened:

The Lions offense struck in the fifth inning. After a lead-off walk, Bret Williams doubled down the left field line to put himself and Chase Smith into scoring position. Chris Iocca when then hit a hard ground ball at the shortstop allow Smith to score the game's first run. The Lions would add to their lead in the seventh inning. After a Smith single and Intentional walks given to both Williams and Zachary Koroneos, Alex Cline would reach base on a field error by the Saints first baseman, allowing Smith and Williams to score putting Harrisburg ahead 3-0.

 

This would plenty for the Lions pitching staff who dominated the Saints for most of the game. Michael De Leon started game for the Lions, recording two strike outs while on the mound. Tyler Jackson would come on in relief and pitch six innings for the Lions, allowing just four hits while adding six more strike outs. Justin Kaplan would come on to close the final two innings for the Lions, striking out three Saints and not allowing any baserunners.

 

The Lions would add some insurance runs in the ninth inning, with Alex Cline singling down the right field line scoring Miguel Torres and Matt Taylor. Later in the inning, Ryan McSorley would reach on a fielding error by the Saints shortstop, allowing Tyler Aug and Cline to score.
