How It Happened

The Penn State Harrisburg Women's Basketball advance to the championship game of the Pride, Spirit, and Honor tournament by defeating Notre Dame of Maryland.

Both teams struggled to find their rhythm in the first quarter, combined for 12 turnovers. Kendis Butler and Briana Davis each connected from behind the arc to help the Lions take a 14-13 lead into the second quarter.

Early in the second Laurel Amey came away with a steal and score to give the Blue & White the lead. Rachel Miller would then steal the ensuing in bounce pass and connected on a deep three to grow the lead to four. This would spark a 20-3 run allowing the Lions to hold a 37-19 advantage heading to the locker room.

The Lions would continue to control the game in the second thanks in part to Ana Mahan's career night. Mahan led the Lions in scoring with 17 while corralling six rebounds. Both teams would trade buckets late in the quarter and Harrisburg held an 18 point advantage entering the fourth quarter. Holding a twenty point led in the fourth quarter, Head Coach Ross Patrick took advantage to get reserves some valuable playing experience in route to the 65-45 victory.
