Thomas Nets 16 in CAC Opener

Middletown, PA – Penn State Harrisburg fell in its CAC opener against Wesley despite a strong effort from Trent Thomas who recorded 16 points. The Blue & White got another good all-around effort from Gbolahan Alliyu who posted 9 points and 10 rebounds. The Lions led for most of the game, but the Wolverines rally late to pick up the victory.

How it Happened:

After falling behind early by six, Penn State Harrisburg would rally behind a couple of baskets from Anthony Bennett Jr. Bennett hit a 3-pointer at the 11:35 mark giving the Lions their first lead of the game. Gbolahan Alliyu would bring the crowd to their feet when Davis Luethke found him for a breakaway dunk. Keenan Wise would nail a 3-pointer right before half giving the Lions a 31-27 advantage.

 

The Lions would control the play for most of the half, building a nine-point lead when Ibn-Haneef Nelson found Trent Thomas for a layup. Harrisburg lead 69-57 with just under three minutes to go. The Wolverines would not quit however, slowly cutting into the deficit. Wesley managed to take a one-point advantage with only 8 seconds remaining. A final shot from Bennett came up short and the Lions suffered their first loss of the season.
