MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Capitol played its final home game of the season, losing to Steven's Trade School 90-79 on Feb. 25.
The Lions actually played two games: their valiant effort of the first half when they at one time had an 18-point lead, and the second half when the Traders made up 29 points to win by 11.
Capitol burst out to a 9-0 lead at the start and soon held a 28-14 margin. The Lions committed its first personal foul with only 5:20 remaining in the half. Bob Guss' three-point play game the home team a 43-25 edge. Capitol led 47-35 at halftime.
The smaller Traders from Lancaster employed a full-court press for much of the second half and forced the Lions into many costly turnovers. The visitors' tenacity paid off as they took the lead for the first time at 68-67 with 6:03 left in the game. Capitol regained the lead and led by one with 3:43 remaining. Stevens then reeled off 11 straight points to put the game out of reach for the Lions.Â
Laskos of Stevens was the game's high scorer with 20 points. Capitol's Steve Hutter and Rick Miller each had 17 to pace the Lions. Ted Sites had 13 points for the Lions. Paul Hook's 16 points game him a total of 276 so far this season, a Capitol Campus season record. Hook also snared 18 rebounds, giving him 223 for the year thus far, also a school record.
