Penn State Harrisburg Grabs Final Conference Win

Salisbury, Md.- The Penn State Harrisburg baseball team traveled to Salisbury on Saturday April 16th for their last conference matchup of the 2016 season. The Lion's dominated the first game, winning 15-13, but fell in the second, 15-8.

The visitors grabbed an early lead in the first inning after two back to back walks. The Lion's got on the board at the top of the second as Connor Bowers and Scott Angstadt Jr. each hit their first single of the afternoon. The Seagulls came out strong in the third as they brought home five straight runs to lead Harrisburg 10-4. Freshman David Klein grabbed 2 RBI's in the sixth as he hit his first home run of the season. Heading into the final inning, the Lion's trailed 13-8. Harrisburg had an explosive final inning, bringing home seven runs to grab the win. Will Quiles and Kell each singled and brought in an RBI a piece to add two runs to the board. Travis VanHouten grounded out to third base, advancing Quiles to home plate. Bowers and Angstat finished the game for the Lions with a double to left field. Michael Balshy brought home his second win of the season at pitcher, giving up only one run and two hits.
 

In the second game, Harrisburg struggled to slow down the Seagulls. The visitors went on to hit three home runs in the first three innings, to come back from the Lion's early 3-0 lead. In the fourth, Blake Reiff doubled to center field, advancing Klein and Angstadt home to bring Harrisburg within four of the Seagulls. Quiles added one more run to the Lion's tally with a single. Salisbury would add six more runs to win the second game, 15-8.

 

Penn State Harrisburg will host Lebanon Valley on Sunday April 17th at 2 pm. The Lion's will also be celebrating Senior Day.
