Lions CAC Playoff Run Cut Short by Spartans

Box Score

Middletown Pa. – The Penn State Harrisburg men's tennis team could not have finished their regular season in better fashion.  The used a four game win streak that peaked with a 5-4 win over York College to give them the #4 seed in the Capital Athletic Conference playoffs.  It also set up a rematch on the Lions home court with the #5 Spartans on Saturday April 18th.

Similar to the match on Tuesday, the double's play set the tone for the entire contest.  Unfortunately for the Blue and White, who won two double's points in the conference finally, only earned one double's point thanks to top duo Chris Magee (Westminster, Md. / Manchester Valley) and Mitchell Ebersole (Donegal, Pa. / Donegal) who won 8-5.

Tyler Cook (Harve de Grace, Md. / Harve de Grace) & Brandon Wolf (Abingdon, Md. / Patterson Mill) made a dramatic turnaround from their 8-0 loss earlier in the week, but despite the increased level of play had to settle for a 9-7 loss.  The final team of James Moore (Lewisburg, Pa / Lewisburg Area) and Pawel Klos (Hamilton, N.J. /Hamilton) did not repeat on their win from Tuesday and put the Lions into a position to chase points going into singles.

Magee led the way at #1 to even things out at 2-2 with his 6-3, 6-3 singles win.  But the Lions were not able to conquer their opponents as they did in the previous match and eventually fell 6-3.

The Lions may be disappointed, but making their first trip to the CAC playoffs is a good step in the right direction and shows the promise for this young squad that does not lose any players due to graduation this spring.
