MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team opened up the 2026-27 campaign with a victory over Lebanon Valley 4-3 at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 23.
The Lions (1-0) took two of three doubles matches to capture the overall point and grab an early advantage heading into solo competition.
Arvind Rajarajan and
Andrew Lines teamed up for a 6-4 win over LVC's Ethan Luu and Jared Hostetter in the No. 3 contest, while another 6-4 victory by
Ian Opitz and
Clayton Herb over Mason Dissinger and Zachary Elmore in the No. 2 pairing sealed the overall doubles point for the home team. In the top contest,
Ved Pawar and
Damir Cuturic fell 6-3 to Jesse Beck and Zach Schrader.
Singles action saw Pawar fight to a 7-6, 6-5 (3) victory over Schrader in the No. 1 matchup, while Cuturic made quick work of Beck 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 2 contest. Rajarajan topped Dissinger 6-3, 6-3 in the third contest. Opitz dropped a hard-fought 2-6, 6-7 (5) decision to Luu, Herb was bested by Elmore 4-6, 3-6, and Kanithi was unable to overcome Brayden Waiter 3-6, 6-2, 2-6 in the No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
Penn State Harrisburg is back in action on Saturday, Sept. 26, as they travel to Allentown, Pa. for a non-conference match against Muhlenberg.
