Knights Enjoy Double Header Wins over Lions

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

Middletown, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's baseball team officially dropped from the Capital Athletic Conference playoff picture earlier this week.  Unfortunately they were not able to push their disappointment over to the Southern Virginia Knights on Saturday April 11th.

The Lions thought they had bounced back after starting the first inning scoring three runs right off the bat.  Instead of bouncing back the team found themselves in a deeper whole after the Knights scored four to regain the short and only lead that Penn State Harrisburg would enjoy in game one.  SVU left nothing in the dugout as they went on to score twenty runs in the first game of the day.

After the 20-4 loss, the Lions hoped to make up for the performance in game two.  Similar to the first game, Penn State Harrisburg went ahead in the top of the first scoring two runs.  Tom Denniston (Harrisburg, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) used his single to left field to score Kevin Kremer (Hershey, Pa. / Hershey) and Troy Taber (Park Ridge, N.J. / Park Ridge) for another promising start.  Southern Virginia answered back with eight runs in the bottom of the inning before cruising through the game for 23 total runs.  Thankfully the Lions were able to produce enough offense to keep things respectable scoring 12 runs in game two losing by a score of 23-12.

The Lions will need to find a way to stop teams from scoring or it could be a long April for the young squad.  Harrisburg returns home on Sunday April 12th to face Stevenson University at 2:00 p.m.
