Avramidis Shines On Senior Day; Ladies Drop Tight One To York (Pa.)

Box Score

Penn State Harrisburg fell by the slimmest of margins to CAC rival York (Pa.) on Wednesday afternoon in a day that started out by honoring the women's tennis team seniors Theodora Avramidis and Alejandro Portillo.  Both women have been instrumental to the team over the past few years.

Portillo finished her final match for the Lions with two unfortunate defeats.  She and Hillary Mataure lost 8-1 in doubles and Portillo lost her singles match in straight sets.  Avramidis was able to finish her final match on top.  Playing the #1 singles position she defeated Dea Vlahos of York in three sets.  In doubles, Avramidis/ Stephanie Harnden shut out their opponent for an 8-0 win.

Harrisburg's two other wins came from forfeits on in the final singles and doubles position.

The Lions end their first year in the Capital Athletic Conference with a few bumps and bruisers, but have the player returning to make the 2014-2015 year something to remember.
