MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team fell 3-4 to conference foe Lancaster Bible on Saturday afternoon, April 11 at the Hoverter Tennis Complex.
Penn State Harrisburg (8-5, 6-1 United East) claimed the doubles point with victories on two courts. In the top contest,
Ava Shepps and
Kiersten Strohecker secured a 6-2 win over Sierra Hartmann and Jania Weist.
Karly Anderson and
Megan Strohecker defeated Natalie Hoover and Lindsey Ochs 6-2 in the No. 2 spot before Lancaster Bible (5-7, 5-2 United East) took the third pairing as Becky Dimov and Sarah Lesher overcame
Karina Ko and
Aubrey Gard 6-3.
In singles action, the Chargers responded strongly. Sierra Hartmann defeated Strohecker in the No. 1 slot, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2, while Jania Weist topped Shepps, 6-4, 6-1 in the No. 2 matchup. Natalie Hoover posted a 6-0, 6-3 victory against Anderson in the third outing.
The Lions registered singles victories in the No. 4 and No. 5 singles.
Megan Strohecker earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lindsey Ochs and
Karina Ko followed with a 6-3, 6-0 decision against Becky Dimov in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots, respectively. However, the visitors sealed the win with Katelyn Riederich's 6-4, 6-2 decision over
Rosalia Mannino in the last duo, concluding the match with a final score of 4-3 in favor of Lancaster Bible.
Penn State Harrisburg is set to travel to St. Mary's (Md.) on Tuesday, April 14 for an all-important United East Conference match.
