Box Score ANNVILLE, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's field hockey team fell by the slimmest of margins to undefeated Lebanon Valley at LVC's Arnold Field, dropping a 1-0 decision to the hosts on Wednesday night, Sept. 11.
The Lions (2-2) avoided falling behind in the early going when the Flying Dutchmen (3-0) failed to convert a penalty stroke opportunity barely 30 seconds into the contest. Penn State Harrisburg earned its first penalty corner late in the first quarter but couldn't capitalize. The visitors earned another early in the second but a shot by Natalie Rocuskie was blocked in front. LVC countered with its first shot on frame but goalkeeper Macenzie Mulholland turned away the attempt, as she would on seven shots on the night.
Rocuskie got off her first shot on goal with less than three minutes left in the opening half but Lebanon Valley goalkeeper Ella Weidenhammer made the save, keeping things scoreless at halftime. After the break, LVC's Lexi Ward broke the scoreless tie by converting her second goal of the season off a feed from Jenna Angstadt in the 39th minute. The Lions were awarded back-to-back penalty corners late in the third but a good look from Rocuskie was again turned away by Weidenhammer in the 41st minute.
Mulholland did all she could to keep the deficit to one down the stretch, making four saves in the final period but Penn State Harrisburg was unable to find the equalizer in the final minutes as LVC escaped its home turf with the narrow victory.
