Field Hockey Drops Tight One to Neumann

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Despite controlling possession for much of the contest, Penn State Harrisburg's field hockey team was outlasted by Neumann in a 2-0 setback on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 22.

The Lions (4-4) pushed the ball deep into Neumann territory numerous times on the day but could never get off the key shot needed to get on the scoreboard. Victoria Castano Colman accounted for all three of Penn State Harrisburg's shots on the day, while goalkeepers Nisa Kece and Ace Lewis combined for three saves.

The Knights (5-2) struck first midway through the opening quarter when Gabriella Cappelli got off a high-velocity attempt from straightaway that found the back of the cage off an assist from Natalie Hackett at the 9:12 mark. Neumann added an insurance goal late in the second when Cadence Conti made the slightest of deflections on a pass from Cappelli outside the circle and was rewarded with the game's second score with 1:30 remaining before halftime.

Penn State Harrisburg earned back-to-back corner opportunities late in the third quarter and Castano Colman was able to put a shot on frame but Neumann goalkeeper Ly'Airrah Sanders came up with her only stop of the day to keep the home team scoreless. The Lions earned two more corners in the fourth but were unable to convert.

- Neumann outshot the Lions 6-3 overall and 5-1 in shots on target.
