Field Hockey Edged In Overtime

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's field hockey team dropped an overtime heartbreaker to Elizabethtown, falling 2-1 in the extra session on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 19.

Bailey Rucker converted the lone goal of the day for Penn State Harrisburg (4-3) and Anna Moyer added an assist. Goalkeepers Nisa Kece and Ace Lewis each made a stop, while Sara Yeselavage added a defensive save.

The Blue Jays (4-2) got on the board first with a deflected goal late in the first quarter but the Lions (4-3) responded with aggression in the second period, earning six penalty corners during the frame. Penn State Harrisburg finally broke through when Rucker finished off an Anna Moyer shot with a deflection that found the back of the cage following a corner insertion from Sadie Cook.

The home team had plenty of penalty corner chances the rest of the way, finishing with 10, but couldn't convert the go-ahead score in regulation. Etown had a chance to end things as time expired in the fourth quarter when Hailey Meyer broke away for a 1-v-1 opportunity but Lewis made a massive save with three seconds left before Yeselavage made a clutch defensive save with one second left to force OT.

With the field widened in extra time, the Blue Jays took advantage when Hannah Long broke away and found a streaking Sara Watson who got around a defender and found the back of the cage to end the game in the 62nd minute.
