Defense Shines In Field Hockey's Shutout of Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's field hockey team shut out Moravian 1-0 in a defensive struggle on Wednesday night, Sept. 16.

In a game with 23 combined shots on goal, the Lions (4-2) were the team that found the back of the cage when reigning United East Offensive Player of the Week Astrid Comp slipped an attempt past goalkeeper Maia Machado off an Alysa McCarthy feed midway through the first quarter.

Despite plenty of chances throughout the rest of the night for both squads, Comp's goal would hold up as the lone marker. The Greyhounds (2-3) earned six penalty corners in the fourth quarter alone but Penn State Harrisburg's defensive unit responded by surrendering just one shot in the final frame.

Macenzie Mulholland did her part to preserve the win, as the goalkeeper made eight stops in the cage to secure her third shutout victory of the season.

NOTABLES
- Comp's goal was her third of the season. It was also her second game-winning goal of the fall. She got off a game-high eight shots on frame.
- McCarthy's assist was her second helper of the year.
- Bailey Rucker had three shots on goal on the night.
- Mulholland made eight saves to preserve her third shutout win of the season.
- The Lions finished with a 15-8 advantage in shots.
- Moravian held an 11-7 edge in penalty corners.

WHO'S NEXT?
The Lions host Elizabethtown for another non-conference tilt on Saturday morning.
