MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team earned a 5-2 victory over Penn College in a United East Conference matchup on Wednesday afternoon, March 25.
The Lions (4-4, 2-0 United East) set the tone in doubles action, going 3-for-3 to begin the match.
Cooper Wheeler and
Damir Cuturic teamed up to defeat Kyle Shuler and Joshua Myers 6-0 in the top contest, while
Ved Pawar and
Ian Opitz went over Logan Ogden and Matt Wlliams 6-0 in the second outing. In the No. 3 contest,
Colin Flack and
Andrew Lines topped Avery Hawk and Lumortor Kpangbai 6-1.
In singles play, Cuturic bested Shuler 6-0, 6-2 in the top pairing and Pawar defeated Myers 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 2 spot. Flack picked up a 6-2, 6-4 win over Hawk, while
John McCarthy swept Christian Abromovage 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively. Opitz fell to Ogden 7-5, 6-4 in the third position before
Michael Rivino dropped a hard-fought 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 No. 4 contest to Williams.
Penn State Harrisburg hopes to continue their undefeated streak in conference play against Penn State Abington on Saturday afternoon, March 28 at the Hoverter Tennis Complex.
