Men's Tennis Handles Alvernia

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team earned a convincing 6-1 non-conference victory over Alvernia on Tuesday afternoon, March 24.

The Lions (3-4) took control in doubles action, winning all three matches to nab the early lead. Ian Opitz and Ved Pawar took a 6-4 victory from Luke Brisbois and Troy O'Malley in the top contest, while Colin Flack and Andrew Lines came away with a 6-3 win over Lucas Montello and Duncan McDowell in the No. 2 matchup. John McCarthy and Harris Ahmed received the win by default in the No. 3 doubles spot.

The home team continued to impress in singles play, led by Damir Cuturic's 6-4, 6-0 win over Alvernia's Montello in the top contest. Opitz dropped a back-and-forth three setter in the No. 2 matchup but the rest of Penn State Harrisburg's lineup emerged victorious.

Flack went over Troy O'Malley 6-1, 6-3 in the No. 3 outing and McCarthy secured a 6-3, 6-4 win over McDowell in the No. 4 matchup. Lines cruised to a 6-2, 6-0 victory in the No. 5 spot against Jordan Bosco and Ahmed earned the win by default in the final singles pairing.
