MEDIA, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team rolled to a 7-0 victory in their first conference matchup of the spring at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon, March 21.
Penn State Harrisburg (2-4, 1-0 United East) got ahead early in doubles action, starting with the No. 1 duo of
Ian Opitz and
Ved Pawar who defeated Penn State Brandywine's Elias Danesh and Mateo Torres 6-0.
Andrew Lines and
Colin Flack secured a 6-0 win over Aaron Wilson and Adib Rahman in the No. 2 outing, while
John McCarthy and
Michael Rivino finished doubles competition with another 6-0 decision over Patrick McGuire and Matt Brides in the third contest.
The visiting Lions' good fortune continued into singles, as
Damir Cuturic started in the No. 1 spot and secured a victory of 6-0, 6-0 over Danesh. Opitz earned the win over Torres 6-2, 6-0 in the second contest, Rivino picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 3 slot, and Flack topped Rahman 6-2, 6-0 in the fourth spot. McCarthy went over Silverio 6-2, 6-0 and Lines bested Aaron Poon 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 5 and No. 6 contests, respectively.
Penn State Harrisburg is set to compete against Alvernia on Tuesday afternoon, March 24 in a non-conference contest at the Hoverter Tennis Complex.
