Women's Soccer Blanks Keystone in Conference Opener

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg women's soccer team opened up United East Conference play with a decisive 11-0 victory over Keystone on Saturday afternoon, September 27.


The Lions (4-4-2, 1-0 United East) asserted control early, as Katelyn Monette opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, followed by Olivia Sgrignioli's goal just a minute later, assisted by Diana Pon. Serenity Hill added a third goal shortly after, with Sgrignioli providing the assist. By the 12th-minute mark, Penn State Harrisburg had extended their lead to 6-0 through additional goals from Monette, Ciera Frick, and Pon.


As the first half continued, the home team maintained their offensive pressure, highlighted by Kayla Ash's back-to-back goals that marked the first of her career. Ella Shirk and Ava Fox further contributed to the scoring frenzy, each netting a goal before halftime. Peyton Huber capped off the scoring with a final marker for the Lions, assisted by Victoria Heath.


Penn State Harrisburg dialed it back in the second half, focusing on possession and running out the clock in a abbreviated frame. Goalkeeper Malaysia Bryant gave consistent effort for the Giants (0-6-1, 0-1 UEC), as she recorded eight saves on the afternoon.


NOTABLES
- Monette and Ash led the Lions with two goals apiece, Ash's markers being the first of her young career.
- Pon, Frick, Hill, Sgrignioli, Shirk, Fox, and Huber all tallied a goal each against the Giants. 
- Mowery, Pon, and Heath recorded a pair of assists each, while Sgrignioli, Shirk, and Huber added a helper apiece.
