Men's Soccer Successfully Opens Conference Play With Shutout of Keystone

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team opened conference play with a decisive 10-0 shutout victory over United East foe Keystone at the college's turf complex on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 27.

Liam Gohn made history by recording a single-game program-record nine total points thanks to four goals and an assist. His scoring total also matched the program's single-game record originally set by Danny Francis in 2009. Malachi Abma netted a pair of goals, while Milton Neto and Josiah Shamberger each finished with a marker and an assist.

Abma converted the game-winning goal in the 10th minute before Gohn netted the first of his four strikes 15 minutes later. Andres Cantillo finished a cross from Aidan McWilliams in the 34th minute to give the Lions (3-6-1, 1-0-0 United East) a comfortable lead heading into halftime.

After the break, Abma found the back of the net again, this time off a feed from Cole Isaacs. Nitson Mboua scored his first goal of the season in the 62nd minute off an assist from Addis Tafese and Josiah Shamberger put home a score off a Gohn find to set off a flurry of scoring in the game's final 17 minutes.

Gohn struck again in the 74th minute off a helper from Brandon Axton, Neto got into the scoring act barely two minutes later and Gohn put a cap on the game's scoring with back-to-back strikes in the 85th and 86th minutes, respectively.
