Men's Soccer Scores Early in Shutout at Wilson

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team secured a decisive 3-0 victory over United East Conference opponent Wilson on Wednesday afternoon, October 1.

Liam Gohn, Addis Tafese, and Brandon Axton all recorded goals on the day, while Colin O'Hara, Cole Isaacs, and Alexander Benbatoul provided the assists, resulting in a total team effort by the visitors.

The Lions (4-6-1, 2-0) established pressure early, leading to a pair of corner kicks in the opening minutes of the first half. Gohn capitalized on the visitors' momentum with a goal in the 12th minute, assisted by Colin O'Hara, putting the team ahead 1-0.

Penn State Harrisburg got on the board once again just a few minutes before halftime thanks to a marker by Tafese that was helped by Isaacs to put the Lions up 2-0. Goalkeeper Erik Rodriguez maintained a clean sheet for the visitors with key saves, including one against Brian Mulholland before going into the second frame.

In the 78th minute, Brandon Axton found the back of the net with an assist from Alexander Benbatoul, extending the visitors' lead to a comfortable 3-0 advantage. Despite multiple attempts from the Phoenix, Rodriguez's save in the 62nd minute kept the home team at bay.

The Lions continued to apply pressure throughout the second half, forcing Wilson goalkeeper Logan Neves to save five different attempts, three of which occurred within just minutes of each other. Penn State Harrisburg came away with the 3-0 win over the Phoenix after 90 minutes of play.
