Women's Volleyball Drops Three-Setter to Mount Aloysius

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team dropped a three-set match 25-22, 25-23, 25-17 to Mount Aloysius on Tuesday night, September 23 at the Capital Union Building.

Hannah DeGregory led the Lions with a triple-double that included 19 digs, 11 kills, and 10 assists, while Camryn Wettstone reached double-digit kills to go along with five digs. From the setter position, Mackenzy Miller tallied 14 assists and 13 digs and Kate Bukowski chipped in 13 digs of her own.

The opening set saw a back-and-forth battle between Penn State Harrisburg (7-4) and the Mounties (10-5), but it was the visitors who took the first set thanks in part to several unforced errors by the Lions on the offensive side of the ball.

In the second frame, the home team attempted to regain their footing with key plays by DeGregory and Wettstone, closing the gap to 22-22 with a kill from Emily Miller. Mount Aloysius, however, capitalized off of their consistent offensive efforts, and ended the set in their favor with a kill and a subsequent service ace from Molly Richards.

The Mounties capitalized early on a kill by Poliana Lazarini, but Penn State Harrisburg quickly responded with Wettstone delivering a kill to level the score at 1-1. Despite several exchanges, the visitors embarked on a significant scoring run, extending their lead to 8-3, aided by multiple kills from Richards. The home team managed to cut into the deficit with key contributions from Wettstone and a kill by E. Miller, bringing the score to 11-8. However, Mount Aloysius maintained momentum and eventually secured the sweep with a 25-17 third set victory.
