Field Hockey Blanks W&J at Penn State to Win Fourth Straight

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's field hockey team extended its recent win streak to four in a row with a 4-0 non-conference shutout victory over Washington & Jefferson at Penn State University's Field Hockey Complex on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 20.

Victoria Castano Colman, the hometown kid, converted the game winner, while Ami Mattingly and Faith Musser each finished with one goal and a helper.

After a scoreless first half, the Lions (6-1) eventually broke through early in the third quarter when Castano Colman inserted a penalty corner, got a pass back from Musser and slapped home her first goal of the season in the 32nd minute. Before the Presidents (3-5) could catch their breath, Penn State Harrisburg was at it again when Cook found the back of the cage off a centering pass from Mattingly to double the advantage just 86 seconds later.

The Lions created more separation early in the fourth quarter when Musser stole away a pass from a W&J defender and beat goalkeeper Grace Erhard in the 46th minute. Mattingly put the finishing touches on the game's scoring when she converted her 12th goal of the season with 6:38 left to play.
