(RV) F&M's Big Second Half Too Much For Women's Soccer

LANCASTER, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team fell to a Franklin & Marshall squad receiving votes in the latest national rankings 3-1 on Saturday afternoon, September 13.

The first half saw a strong defensive performance from Penn State Harrisburg (3-2-1), with Katherine Eimer making five crucial saves to keep the Diplomats (4-1-0) at bay. Despite facing a barrage of shots, Eimer's efforts in goal thwarted their attempts, including a notable save in the 14th minute and another key stop just 15 minutes later. On the offensive side of the ball, Ava Fox attempted a corner kick and Katelyn Monette had a shot of her own that tested F&M goalkeeper Lucy Fleming just before halftime, but nevertheless the game remained scoreless after the first half.

The Diplomats continued to put the pressure on offensively, leading to an early penalty kick goal by Emerson McDonald in the 56th minute. Despite strong defensive efforts and another save by Eimer, the Franklin & Marshall extended their lead with two more goals by the 64th minute. Penn State Harrisburg attempted to claw back when Olivia Sgrignioli found the back of the net late in the second half, but the two-goal deficit was too much to overcome for the visitors, resulting in a 3-1 final in favor of the Diplomats.
