Field Hockey Blanks Goucher For Second Straight Shutout Victory

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's field hockey team posted its second straight shutout with a 4-0 victory over Goucher on Sunday afternoon, August 31.

Ami Mattingly continued her torrid pace to begin the season, recording her second consecutive hat trick. Bailey Rucker added her second marker of the fall, while Alexis Nasuta recorded two helpers on the day.

The Lions (2-0) had numerous scoring chances early in the opening quarter but Goucher goalkeeper Katie Bloom was game for much of the afternoon until Mattingly broke through with her first goal of the game in the 13th minute off a feed from Nasuta.

The lead held at the break but Penn State Harrisburg put together a barrage early in the second half that included a Rucker strike off a Victoria Castano Colman assist and another marker from Mattingly little more than a minute later to stretch the advantage to 3-0 with 11:32 remaining in the third quarter.

Bloom did what she could to keep the Gophers (0-1) in it before giving way to Mimi Taff in the final quarter, making a dozen saves prior to exiting. Mattingly put an exclamation point on her memorable weekend with a final score off another Nasuta assist in the 58th minute to secure her second hat trick in as many outings.

NOTABLES
- Mattingly posted her second straight hat trick to record six total points on the day. She is the first player in program history to record multiple three-goal games.

- Nasuta tallied two assists on the day.
- Sadie Cook and Castano Colman each recorded their second assists of the fall.
