WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team earned its third-straight sweep with a 7-0 victory over conference foe Penn College on Wednesday afternoon, April 9.
Doubles action saw
Allison Wootton and
Breanna DeSantis earn a 6-1 win over Ellen Buckley and Faith Murray in the No. 1 contest, while the No. 2 duo of
Hailey Dey and
Carissa Fallon recorded a 6-1 victory of Penn College's Kayla Weinzierl and Eliza Welshans.
Sarah Shaub and
Anita Liu won by default in the third doubles matchup.
In singles play, DeSantis picked up a 6-0, 6-3 decision over Buckley in the top pairing, while Liu secured a 6-2, 6-1 win against Murray in the No. 2 spot. Shaub and Fallon both posted 6-0, 6-0 sweeps in the No. 3 and No. 4 outings, respectively. Karino Ko led Callistra 6-0 after one set in the fifth matchup before the latter retired in set two with the score at 5-0. Dey rounded out the day for the Lions with a win by default in the sixth spot.
Riding a three-match win streak, Penn State Harrisburg (10-5, 5-1 United East) will travel to conference opponent Notre Dame of Maryland on Saturday afternoon, April 12.
