MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis suffered a 6-1 setback against non-conference opponent Sweet Briar at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Saturday morning, April 19.
In doubles play,
Allison Wootton and
Breanna DeSantis fell to Alex Guilarte and Isadora Lima 6-3 in the top contest, while
Anita Liu and
Sarah Shaub dropped a 6-0 decision to Juli Caracciolo and Lucia Bovard in the No. 2 slot. Sweet Briar's Maggie Minton and Atty Bestwick topped
Hailey Dey and Carrisa Fallon 6-2 in the third matchup.
Fallon earned the lone win of the day for the Lions in the No. 6 pairing, as she was leading 4-1 before Bestwick retired. Wootton went the distance with Caracciolo in the No. 1 outing before being edged 0-6, 6-3, 2-6, DeSantis dropped the second contest to Guilarte 6-4, 6-2, and Liu was bested by Lima 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot. Dey fell to Minton 6-1, 6-1 in the fourth outing and Shaub suffered a 6-2, 6-0 setback against Bovard in the No. 5 contest.
The Lions (12-7) travel to Messiah for a non-conference matchup on Thursday afternoon, April 24 for their last regular season match.
