MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team earned a 5-2 non-conference victory over Penn State Altoona on Sunday, April 13 to increase their win streak to six in a row.
Cooper Wheeler and
Damir Cuturic led the way in doubles action, with the pair winning the No. 1 match 6-4 over Penn State Altoona's Casey Hess and Andrew Chronister.
Peng Mark Hou and
Andrew Schreck topped Wilhelm Grot and Gabriel Lopez 6-2 in the No. 2 contest, while
Derwin Merca and
Clayton Herb were edged by Nick Beard and Jackson Newell 7-6 in the third outing.
Hou completed his day with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Hess in the top singles pairing, while Wheeler grabbed a 6-2, 6-3 win over Chronister in the No. 2 slot. Cuturic fought to a 6-4, 6-2 decision against Beard in the third matchup and Herb defeated Kadyn Carey 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 5 outing. Penn State Altoona's Newell and Emmett Hibbs swiped the fourth and sixth contests over Merca and Schreck, respectively.
Penn State Harrisburg (11-5, 5-0 United East) hosts Penn State Berks on Tuesday afternoon, April 15 for a United East Conference matchup. The contest will serve as the program's senior day at the Hoverter Tennis Complex.
