MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team earned a decisive conference 7-0 victory over Cairn at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Tuesday, April 1.
The Lions (8-5, 3-1) captured all three doubles matches, with
Allison Wootton and
Breanna DeSantis battling to a 6-4 win over Reagan Griffith and Delaney Bouton in the top contest, while
Anita Liu and
Sarah Shaub went over Tatiana Ipri and Kailee Sobrino 6-1 in the No. 2 outing.
Hailey Dey and
Carissa Fallon made it a clean sweep in doubles with a 6-0 final over Madison Searls and Hajin Seo in the third matchup.
The momentum carried over into singles competition, with Wootton besting Griffith 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1 slot and DeSantis earned the second contest score of 5-0 before winning by retirement. Liu swiped a 6-1, 6-1 win over Ipri in the third matchup, Dey defeated Searls 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 4 spot, and Shaub topped Sobrino 6-2, 6-1 in the fifth outing. Ko Karina ended the day with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Seo in the No. 6 contest to secure the sweep over the Highlanders.
Penn State Harrisburg is set to travel to Lancaster Bible on Saturday, April 5 for another United East matchup at 1 p.m.
