MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team secured a 7-0 sweep over United East opponent Cairn on Tuesday afternoon, April 1.
The Lions (8-5, 3-0) got ahead early in doubles action, started with the No. 1 duo of
Mark Hou and
Andrew Schreck who defeated Cairn's Daniel Stange and Matheo Baez 6-3.
Kevin Liang and
Derwin Merca secured a 6-0 win over Jacob Gossel and Joshua Nacy in the second outing, while
Clayton Herb and
Colin Flack finished doubles competition with a 6-0 decision over Caleb Akundo and Kirk Prasch in the third contest.
Penn State Harrisburg's good fortune continued into singles, as Liang started in the No. 1 spot and secured a victory of 6-2, 6-1 over Stange. Merca earned the win over Baez 6-2, 6-0 in the second contest, Herb picked up a 6-0, 6-2 victory in the No. 3 slot, and Schreck topped Nacy 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 spot.
Michael Rivino and Flack sealed the sweep for the Lions with Rivino's 6-1, 6-1 win in the fifth match and Flack's 6-1, 6-3 decision over Prasch in the sixth position.
The Blue & White travel to Lancaster Bible on Saturday, April 5 for another conference matchup at 1 p.m.
