MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team opened United East Conference play with a 7-0 sweep of Penn State Brandywine on Wednesday afternoon, March 26.
The Lions (6-5, 1-0 United East) got ahead early in doubles action, starting with the No. 1 duo of
Mark Hou and
Derwin Merca who defeated Penn State Brandywine's Raj Mamidala and Jonathan Parsons 6-1.
Cooper Wheeler and
Clayton Herb secured a 6-0 win over Julian Grossman and Elias Danesh in the No 2 outing.
Penn State Harrisburg's good fortune continued into singles, as Hou started in the No. 1 spot and secured a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Mamidala.
Kevin Liang earned the win over Danesh 6-1, 6-1 in the second contest, Merca picked up a 6-0, 6-1 decision in the No. 3 slot, and Herb topped Grossman 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth spot.
Andrew Schreck sealed the sweep for the Lions with his 6-0, 6-0 win over Louis Trolli in the fifth position.
The Blue & White are set to travel to St. Mary's College of Maryland on Saturday, March 29 for another conference matchup at 1 p.m.
