Women's Tennis Opens Conference Play With Sweep of Cedar Crest

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's tennis team opened up United East conference play with a 7-0 sweep over Cedar Crest at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Saturday, March 22.

The Lions (6-4) won all three doubles matches, starting with Allison Wootton and Breanna DeSantis who defeated Cedar Crest's Corrinne O'Connor and Raury Barnard 6-0 in the top outing. The No. 2 duo of Anita Liu and Sarah Shaub overpowered Grace Huff and Grace Nieman in a 6-0 victory, while Hailey Dey and Carissa Fallon got the win in the No. 3 slot 6-0 over Cam Beverage and Gracelynn Pauley.

It was more of the same in singles action, as no Penn State Harrisburg player needed more than two sets to come away with a victory. Wootton handled Barnard 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 1 matchup, while DeSantis went over Nieman 6-0, 6-2 in the second outing. In the third contest, Dey earned a 6-0, 6-0 win over O'Connor and Shaub came away with a 6-0, 6-0 decision over Huff in the No. 4 spot. Karina Ko and Carissa Fallon secured the sweep with 6-0, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-0 victories in both of their respective matchups.

Penn State Harrisburg returns to action on Wednesday, March 26 in another conference matchup against Penn State Brandywine at home.
