Men's Tennis Tripped Up By Gettysburg

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to a formidable Gettysburg squad in non-conference action at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon, March 21.

Cooper Wheeler and Damir Cuturic had strong starts to their day in a hard-fought 7-5 win over the Bullets' top doubles team of Mikey Fellman and Adam Contract but the visitors were able to capture the other two doubles matchups and claim the overall point, as Owen Kutlu and JP Damare edged Mark Hou and Kevin Liang 6-4 and Connor McPartland and Matt Porreca topped Derwin Merca and Clayton Herb 6-3.

Wheeler secured his second victory of the day in solo action, besting Contract 6-7. 6-2, 10-7 in a hotly-contested No. 2 showdown. Liang made things tough on Kutlu before bowing out in a 7-5, 7-5 setback in the fourth outing, while Hou fell to Fellman 7-5, 6-1 in the top singles matchup. Cuturic dropped a 6-3, 6-0 decision in the third match, while Merca fell 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 5 contest. Herb rounded out the singles competition with a 6-0, 6-3 setback in the No. 6 matchup.

The Lions (5-5) have a quick turnaround, as they host Dickinson for another non-conference match on Saturday afternoon.
