Men's Tennis Falls to Lynchburg In South Carolina

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its 2025 campaign with a 6-1 setback to Lynchburg in South Carolina on Tuesday afternoon, March 11. 


The Lions were edged in doubles play, with the top duo of Cooper Wheeler and Damir Cuturic falling 6-4 to Lynchburg's Luca Morbioli and Timothee DePaquit. Andrew Schreck and Clayton Herb dropped a 6-1 decision to Alex Rintoul and Sebastian Soria in the second doubles contest, while Colin Flack and John McCarthy fell 6-3 to Patricio Zepeda and Sebastian Sierra in the No. 3 contest. 


Cuturic led the way in singles action, besting Soria 6-2, 2-6, 10-6 in the No. 2 matchup. Wheeler went the distance in the top solo contest before falling 6-0, 4-6, 10-4 to Morbioli and Schreck fell to Rintoul 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 3 outing. Herb dropped a 6-2, 6-1 decision to Sierra in the fourth contest, while Michael Rivino and McCarthy dropped their No. 5 and No. 6 matches, respectively.


The Lions are back at it on Wednesday afternoon when they face Franciscan for the second match of their spring break trip.
