MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team opened conference play with a 77-68 victory over United East foe Wilson at the Capital Union Building on Wednesday night, Dec. 3.
Chris Henderson Jr. led the way with a game-high 20 points, five rebounds and three steals, while
Antwone George added 16 points and three assists off the bench.
Dylan Moore finished with a dozen points and five boards,
Maurice Davis grabbed a team-high seven rebounds and
David Reed IV added seven points and five boards in a reserve role.
The Lions (3-4, 1-0 United East) jumped out to a 7-0 advantage thanks to a Henderson 3-ball, a Moore layup and a Henderson conversion in transition three and a half minutes into the contest before a
Justin Leddo layup made it 11-3 at the 14:48 mark. Andre Thomas buried a 3-pointer to push the advantage to 19-9 with 10:33 remaining in the first half but the Phoenix (2-6, 0-1 United East) used a 6-0 run to pull to within two at the 4:42 mark.
Penn State Harrisburg responded with a spurt to end the half that included a 3-ball from
Isaiah Milien before opening the second with a 9-0 run that stretched the lead to 46-30 with 17:45 left to play. The Lions led by as many as 17 points at the 14:43 mark following a Henderson layup and maintained a double-digit advantage the rest of the way until the game's closing seconds.
