Men's Basketball Comes Up Short at Susquehanna

SELINSGROVE, Pa. – A rough shooting night did in Penn State Harrisburg's men's basketball team in a 71-55 non-conference road loss to Susquehanna on Tuesday night, Nov. 25.

Andre Thomas III led the way with 11 points, while Antwone George was the only other player to reach double figures with 10. Dylan Moore added nine points, Chris Henderson Jr. grabbed a team-high six rebounds and Jordan Spencer finished with four points, five rebounds and a pair of assists.

The Lions (2-4) outshot Susquehanna (4-2) from the field but struggled from beyond the arc (14.3 percent) and the free throw line (40 percent), while the River Hawks got to the charity stripe 29 times and converted 25 attempts.

The game was a back-and-forth affair early in the opening half but the home team put together a 9-0 run to create some separation and pull ahead 22-10 at the eight-minute mark. Penn State Harrisburg pulled to within eight following a George 3-ball at the 3:04 mark but the River Hawks closed out the half with a 4-0 spurt to take a 36-24 lead into the break.

The visitors got something going in the second half and put together a 6-0 run that cut the deficit to 44-37 with 12:20 to play thanks to a layup from George and back-to-back jumpers from Mason Pulliam and Irby Hunter. Susquehanna stemmed the tide, however, and stretched the advantage back to 14 with 8:05 remaining.

Penn State Harrisburg pulled back to within eight thanks to a Kevin Lucas Jr. steal and Thomas fastbreak layup with 6:24 left but the River Hawks responded with a 5-0 run over the next minute-plus to put things out of reach for good.
