Women's Soccer Secures Tie with Regionally-Ranked Cortland

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's soccer team played to scoreless draw with regionally-ranked Cortland in a non-conference matchup on Sunday afternoon, October 19.

Penn State Harrisburg (11-5-4) applied early pressure in the first half through several set pieces. Diana Pon delivered a pair of corner kicks in the opening minutes, leading to header attempts by Mackenzie Mowery and Abigail Frew, both of which narrowly missed the target. Ava Fox also tested the Red Dragons' defense with a header that was saved by goalkeeper Olivia Rouse in the 35th minute. Despite consistent offensive efforts, neither team managed to find the back of the net and the opening half concluded with the contest scoreless.

The Lions aimed to gain control after halftime, with Serenity Hill leading the charge offensively. Hill's efforts included two on-target shots within minutes of each other, both requiring saves by the Cortland's goalie who subbed in for the second frame, Mia Hosbach. The Red Dragons (9-2-5) responded with multiple corner kicks throughout the half, but weren't able to capitalize on them and the neither team managed to break the deadlock by the end of the match.
