Women's Volleyball Picks Up Another Sweep in Conference Play

LANGHORNE, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team swept Cairn in a United East Conference matchup in straight sets on Saturday afternoon, October 18.


Camryn Wettstone and Brianna Ondishin Ribon both tallied nine kills apiece to lead the visitors, while Mackenzy Miller tallied 15 assists from the setter position. Kate Bukowski was dominate on defense, recording 17 digs.


Penn State Harrisburg (14-5, 5-1 United East) started the first set with back-to-back service aces from M. Miller which allowed the squad to get out to an early advantage. Mid-way through the frame, the visitors went on a 5-0 run that was fueled by kills from Tesia Oliva and Wettstone and another ace by M. Miller. The set concluded with consecutive kills from Ellie Brown before an error by the home team sealed the 25-11 first-set win.


As the second set progressed, the visitors capitalized on several Cairn (14-5, 5-2 United East) errors to extend their lead. Ondishin Ribon was pivotal, contributing multiple kills, supported by assists from M. Miller. Late kills from Tesia Oliva and another from Ondishin Ribon sealed the frame for the Lions, who concluded with a 25-20 victory.


The final set was a back-and-forth battle until the very end, with the Highlanders leading for the majority of the frame. Although trailing, Penn State Harrisburg continued to show resilience with a series of kills by DeGregory and Wettstone, maintaining the pressure on the home team. In a tense conclusion, the Lions' capitalized on Cairn's service errors and a critical kill from Ondishin Ribon to gain the edge in extra play and secure the sweep.
